What is the big city life? Blatant racism in the Uptown Park area of Houston.

1994 Corison Cabernet Sauvignon

Aw Snap! Cathy Corison is following me on twitter!! How you like them apples?

I figured I should leave tasting notes after Ms. Corison tweeted me stating I spent too much on the bottle.
This wine is dark blue red brick towards brown at the edges. Slight oxidation apparent, but within limits of a 4:30 AM tasting in a plastic cup. Blueberry, chocolate, dark cherry, black currant, spice, hints of oak (not sure if American or French), smooth supple tannins, integrates well with the acid and finishes gorgeously. At 12.8% abv there was a certain viscous nature to the wine that was amazing. I can’t believe I opened this already!! I’ll have to get another bottle. . . This wine lingers. . . I was expecting more leather, pencil lead and tea. Maybe in another six years.

After going to sleep at 5:00 AM, I made it to class on time to take my test. I was still drunk when I left the class. Now i find out I got the highest grade on the test.
Big city life. . .

A few nights ago I was propositioned by a woman in her late 40's, asking me to meet her at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, room 712.  Good Stuff. . .

2005 Michael & David Rapture Cabernet Sauvignon (Lodi AVA)
I lost my notes on this tasting, so I'm doing this from a memory from Tuesday last. . .

In the glass, the wine is deep purplish blue towards the center, fading to reddish hues with a clearly defined water band, quick forming tears and visible staining of the glass. On the nose, dark blackberry, sour cherries, black tea, chocolate, mint, little to no evidence of earth components, extended ageing in French Oak. On the palate, the wine is dry, full bodied, high alcohol, low acid, well integrated tannins; confirming fruit components from the nose. This wine is overly extracted for me, but should please the palates of those seeking boutique-style California Reds.
